LENO SUED OVER VINTAGE CAR PURCHASE

The estate of an heir to the famous U.S. department store MACy's is suing American talk show host JAY LENO over a stolen vintage car.
Two antique cars belonging to John Strauss were held in a Manhattan garage for 50 years until they were allegedly put up for auction in 2005 without Strauss' prior knowledge.
According to a lawsuit filed by the estate on Tuesday (14Oct08) at New York's Supreme Court, Leno, host of The Tonight Show, purchased one of the cars at the auction.
The garage owners claim they sold the cars because Strauss owed $29,000 (GBP17,500) in parking fees.
Strauss' estate refutes the claims, insisting the fees were a sham used to cover the fact they sold items not belonging to them.
Trustees for the estate of the MACy's heir, who died after a battle with dementia earlier this year (08), are ordering for the return of the cars, plus unspecified damages.
A spokesman for Leno declined to comment.
