LED ZEPPELIN TO 'TOUR AND RECORD WITH NEW SINGER'

Led Zeppelin are considering touring and recording a new album with a replacement singer for frontman Robert Plant, according to Jimmy Page's manager.

Rumours of a full-scale reunion have been rife since the band reformed for a one-off charity show in December 2007 but Plant has insisted he is not interested in rejoining the rock group,

The singer has found new success through his collaboration with country singer Alison Krauss and plans to take a break from touring once their world jaunt concludes.

But according to Peter Mensch, manager of Zeppelin guitarist Page, the Whole Lotta Love legends could continue performing, even without their longtime lead singer.

"Jimmy Page has been playing guitar professionally since he was 16 years old. Jimmy Page likes being a musician. That's what he does! He doesn't want to be a race car driver or a solicitor," Mensch told BBC 6Music.

"So they [Page, Jones and drummer Jason Bonham] did the show [at London's O2 Arena in 2007] with Robert Plant; they had a really good time rehearsing, the three of them, before Robert showed up.

"And they decided that if they could find a singer that they thought would fit their bill – whatever their bill was at this stage in their career – that they'd make a record and go on tour."

Potential replacements for Plant have already been mooted in the press, with Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Soundgarden's Chris Cornell linked with the job.

Mensch refused to comment on a possible new frontman, saying: "It's gonna be a long and difficult process.

"And we're not soliciting people! So don't call me about it," he added.
