Canadian pop star AVRIL LAVIGNE has escaped a crackdown on western musicians performing in China - her autumn (08) tour of Asia has been confirmed.
The Sk8r Boi singer will perform a string of dates across the communist country starting in September, including a performance in Shanghai on 4 October (08).
A press release from Ticketmaster reveals, "This will be Avril's first full-production tour in China, featuring sophisticated stage settings and an upgraded collection of hit songs... and a pink piano."
The announcement comes just weeks after the Chinese government imposed a ban on musicians who have "threatened national sovereignty" from performing in the country following an outburst by Icelandic star Bjork.
The It's Oh So Quiet singer was chastised by the communist country's culture ministry after she yelled "Tibet" several times during her song Declare Independence at a concert in Shanghai in March (08).
Tibet lost independence to China in 1951, and Chinese authorities have come under fire in recent months over their human rights record in the region.
