HUGH GRANT - KHAN RECEIVES DEATH THREATS

HUGH GRANT's former girlfriend JEMIMA KHAN has received death threats after supporting a counter Islamist extremism organisation.
Khan - who converted to Islam before marrying cricket legend and political campaigner Imran Khan in 1995 - this week (begs21Apr08) pledged her allegiance to the The Quilliam Foundation, a group of reformed Muslim radicals who aim to combat extremism.
But the group has been the target of death-threats, intimidating calls and emails - and its patron Khan has been referred to by name, according to the group's co-director, Ed Husain.
He says, "All of this is designed to discredit us in the eyes of members of the Muslim community.
"The leaders of these movements are fearful of us because they know that members have been in touch with us and they want help in order to leave."
