MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE - KEARNS LOVES READING BOTTLING

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE frontman GERARD KEARNS loved having bottles thrown at him at an English festival earlier this year, because he doesn't want to be liked by everyone. The band were pelted by bottles at the Reading Festival in southern England (27AUG06) after coming on stage following a set by notorious heavy metal rockers SLAYER. The Goth rockers are heavily tipped for big success this year, but Kearns believed the band were getting too many "pats on the back" from the media and welcomed the Reading response, because it meant he still has the ability to rile people. He says, "When the first bottle landed onstage at Reading my initial instinct was 'This is going to be fun'. "We've had so many pats on the back in the US and it gets to the stage where you're doing victory laps. And then what are you fighting against? If you don't have adversity, what are you? "There's only love and hate with this band, nothing in the middle."
