JENNIFER HUDSON - JENNIFER HUDSON DISSES IDOL

In a rambling interview with Essence magazine, Dreamgirls co-star Jennifer Hudson has assailed the producers of American Idol, the show that brought her to prominence. She said, "On American Idol, you go through this mental thing; you've got to get yourself back together. You've been abused, misled and brainwashed to believe whatever they want you to think. You become a character -- I became the girl in the turkey wrapping. I just knew I had to sing my way out of it. I don't believe in looking back, and I didn't look back." The "turkey wrapping" remark was an apparent reference to a costume she was made to wear on one episode of the show. Although many writers had predicted that Hudson would win the competition, she was beaten by Fantasia Barrino.

Wow. Y'know what, I'm REALLY glad that I'm not so intellectually inept that I
can't see past an initial statement and miss the fundamentally basic
point/message a person is trying to get across...
I think what Jennifer is saying is such a simple fact that it would take an
imbecile not to understand what she's saying. She IS NOT remotely trying to
"bite the hand that feeds her"; she's simply trying to get the point that MANY
former Idol contestants have screamed to the Heavens in the past.
She's saying that once you get inside the eye of the whirlwind-spin that is
Idol hysteria, you, as a normal person, coming from a normal, hardworking
everyday life, are thrust into the spotlight with absolutely NO preparation for
it. And worse still; it's over just as fast, again WITHOUT WARNING - and these
contestants DON'T KNOW HOW TO HANDLE IT. Is that so hard to understand?!?
The point she is making, is that rather than trying to get the contestants some
counsellors or mentors that can help these deer walk safe and wisely through
the glare of the headlights; Idol enourages them to stop and stare into the
headlamps until it blinds them, then sends them out into oncoming traffic,
sensory-impaired.
That's NOT dissing Idol - that's simply telling joe public what it's like to be
on the inside of the bubble - it's really NOT rocket science!!!
Easy there, Tiger! I guess we all can't be Mensa members like you, my dear.
She is too dissing the show anyway. You'd have to be a moron NOT to know how
you will be treated on that show or any reality show for that matter. The only
people to be caught unaware would be the Season 1 members. Anything and anyone
after that is fair game.
