HILARY DUFF - JAIL FOR 'LIZZIE MCGUIRE' STALKER

A Russian teenager has been ordered to spend the next 117 days in jail after offering no contest to charges of stalking US actress Hilary Duff.

Maksim Myaskovskiy, 18, was also told by a Californian court that he would be on probation until 2012.

Duff, who found fame as the eponymous Lizzie McGuire in the TV show of the same name, had complained to police after the teenager began making threatening phone calls to her and her family.

Myaskovskiy was arrested two months ago after telling security officials employed by the 20-year-old actress that he planned to harm her at an upcoming event.

This followed the protection order that Duff's family and then-boyfriend Joel Madden of Good Charlotte had sought against him.

Duff, whose older sister Haylie is also an actress, has appeared in films such as Cheaper by the Dozen and Cinderella Story.
