Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger is set to release a best of from his back catalogue of solo material.

The Very Best of Mick Jagger will be released on October 2nd and features 17 tracks, including three previously unreleased efforts.

Jagger has released four solo albums in his career, with She's the Boss kicking things off in 1985 followed by Primitive Cool, Wandering Spirit and Goddess in the Doorway.

Although the material is not as popular as that made by the Stones, Jagger's albums are an interesting insight into the individual creativity of one of rock 'n' roll's most famous frontmen.

Jagger said: "It was such a disparate time with lots of ups and down - fortunately mostly up - like you do generally have in life.

"For me, it's a great thing to listen to since all the songs speak to a certain time and make things come alive for me."

Included on the album is the much-loved Live Aid effort Dancing in the Street, made with David Bowie and featuring a highly amusing video premiered at the charity concert in Philadelphia.

Too Many Cooks (Spoil the Soup) is also on the record and has never been previously released.

The track is produced by John Lennon and was recorded by Jagger in Los Angeles in 1973 with an all-star band.

Other unreleased tracks include two demos recorded with Rick Rubin during the Wandering Spirit recording sessions.
