MICHAEL JACKSON - JACKSON CAUSES A STIR IN JAPAN

Pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON has touched down in Japan ahead of his expensive meet-and-greet with fans on Thursday (08MAR07). The 48-year-old was originally scheduled to host the 'platinum VIP' party in December (06), where he was rumoured to be performing. Fans have paid up to $3,500 (GBP1,800) to spend a minute in his company. Jackson is also attending a fan art contest in Tokyo for those who are unable to afford tickets to his Thursday date. Winning artists will have a meal with the singer and photographs taken alongside him. Jackson has made no secret of his love for Japan in the past. Earlier this year (07), he called it "one of my favourite places in the entire world". He explained, "My fans in Japan helped me achieve historic milestones in the music industry."
