IMUS'S AUDIENCE DEPARTS WITH HIM
Half of MSNBC's morning viewers have fled the cable channel since it fired Don Imus last month, according to Nielsen Research. The ratings company said that while in March the Imus time slot drew 316,000 households, the number dropped to 177,000 during the first month of Imus's absence. Meanwhile, message writers continue to bombard MSNC demanding that Imus be reinstated and asserting that they will refuse to watch any MSNBC program or buy any products advertised by the channel until he is.

I never watch MSNBC in the morning anymore. In fact, I don't ever watch that
cowardly station anymore. Imus had his flaws, but it never stopped people from
talking to him; nor did it stop charities and people in need from taking his
money. He has done so much good, especially for wounded war veterans and sick
children. The spineless execs at MSNBC should try to do half of what Imus has
done! They are not worthy of him.
So much for our "teachable moment." Notice that the outrage and even the topic
of racism have pretty much disappeared, what with our fickle and
one-dimensional media. Imus wanted to open a dialogue that would have had a
chance to make us all better people. He has used his inflluence for so many
positive causes and is one of the few people I know of who might have raised
the level of communication and kept it going. Instead, Imus is gone and the
conversation is over - again.
The Imus program was unique in so many ways. Imus was not afraid to speak truth
to power. Unlike every other media host, his questions were brief and his
guests were given time to actually share their insights and opinions.
I will NOT watch MSNBS in the morning without Imus.
