NATALIE IMBRUGLIA is planning a comeback in 2009, revealing that her new album should hit the shops in March.

The 33-year-old Australian singer - whose Best Of compilation was released in 2007 - has struggled to match the success of her 1997 single Torn.

However, she is now planning to release the new album on her own label after parting company with her former record label Sony BMG, reports Digital Spy.

Writing on her website, the former Neighbours star said she is "really excited" about the new album, which is currently in "final stages of mixing".

"It has taken longer than I would have hoped to get to this point - I will spare you the gory details - but it feels very good to be in a position of control and being able to decide how this record will be delivered to the world," she wrote.

Natalie was married to SILVERCHAIR frontman Daniel Johns for five years, but the couple announced their divorce in January.
