DREAMGIRLS star JENNIFER HUDSON is to be honoured with a best newcomer award at the 18th Palm Springs International Film Festival in the New Year (07). The former AMERICAN IDOL contestant will receive the Breakthrough Performance award at the event, following the nomination for a Golden Globe for her performance as EFFIE in new movie Dreamgirls. CATE BLANCHETT will also be awarded a gong for career achievement at the California-based festival, which runs from 4 to 15 January next year (07).
