Actor TERRENCE HOWARD credits watching his father stab a man to death in self-defence when he was three years old with making him the actor he is today.
Following the incident, the Crash star's father was sentenced to 11 months in prison on manslaughter charges and the young Howard was plunged into a life of poverty.
He says, "I'm not scarred by it, but I would not be the actor I am without it. I was a child in a middle-class family, then I was suddenly living in the projects."
