TERRENCE HOWARD - HOWARD FEARS DEAFNESS IF HE'S DISHONEST

HUSTLE + FLOW star TERRENCE HOWARD never tells lies because he's afraid dishonesty will render him deaf. The actor lost his hearing for a year when he was a teenager and then lost movement in the right side of his face - and he has always linked his afflictions to the lies he told as a child. Howard says, "I was deaf for about a year when I was 16 or 17 because I had an ear infection and we didn't have any money to get any antibiotics. "And then I lost movement in the right side of my face for about a year 'cos, from the ear infection, it got to the nerve. "So, all I knew was simple things and I couldn't hide the ugliness that had happened from losing my face and I realised that all I had was truth."
