SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS has ridiculed actors who flaunt their knighthoods, because titles "don't mean a thing". The legendary actor, 69, was knighted by the British monarch Queen Elizabeth II in 1993, but has previously admitted to only accepting the award to make his then wife, Jennifer Lynton, happy. And he admits the accolade isn't of much importance to him. He says, "I'm sure Michael Caine and Michael Gambon have the same view of their titles as me: that it's nice, but a bit of fluff. "Some others, though, go the whole hog and you wonder what possesses seemingly intelligent guys to do that. It certainly impresses Americans, but it doesn't mean a thing."
