JOE COCKER - HONOURS FOR COCKER, HUMPHRIES, RUSHDIE AND SALLIS
Rocker JOE COCKER, comedian BARRY HUMPHRIES, author SALMAN RUSHDIE and WALLACE AND GROMITT star PETER SALLIS have all been named in QUEEN ELIZABETH II's Honours List.
The With A Little Help From My Friends rocker will be made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), along with Sallis, actress Sylvia Sims and Barbara Taylor Bradford.
Humphries, best known for his character Dame Edna Everage, will be a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), with Glastonbury Festival Founder Michael Eavis.
Rushdie, the author of controversial book The Satanic Verses, will be knighted by the Queen and become Sir Salman Rushdie.
The awards mark the Queen's official Birthday on 16 June (07) and will be presented in ceremonies later this year (07).
