HILTON ACCUSED OF POP PLAGIARISM

PARIS HILTON's pop career has suffered another blow - just days after she was dropped by her record label she faces a plagiarism suit over her debut single STARS ARE BLIND. V2 Music Publishing, Warner Chappell Music and Hilton's songwriter/producer Fernando Garibay are being sued by Sparta Florida Music Group, who allege parts of the track are lifted from UB40 classic Kingston Town. The GBP250,000 ($500,000) writ, filed in London's High Court, claims breach of copyright. Sparta Florida intends to draw on evidence from a musicologist and on internet articles to prove their case. Last week (ends01Jun07) a representative for Warner Brothers revealed "We are not expecting any new Paris Hilton material in the foreseeable future" after executives were left disappointed by lacklustre sales of debut pop album Paris.
