PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN - HI YO SILVER! LONE RANGER SET TO COME TO THE BIG SCREEN

The adventures of the Lone Ranger and his Native American friend Tonto are in final negotiations to come to the big screen.

The pair behind the project are Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, the writers of the Pirates of the Caribbean.

If negotiations are successful, the project will be made by Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films in association with Entertainment Rights, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The Lone Ranger's story begins when a group of Texas Rangers are attacked by a gang of outlaws led by Butch Cavendish.

All of the rangers die except one, who is found by Tonto and nursed back to health.

The ranger decides to hide his identity by wearing a mask and, riding a white horse named Silver, vows to bring the killers and others like them to justice.

Originally a radio show, the Lone Ranger went on to be made into television and movie serials and comic books.

The Hollywood Reporter claims Bruckheimer will produce the film and Bruckheimer Films' Mike Stenson and Chad Oman are executive producing.
