Moviemaker WERNER HERZOG has poured scorn on the sniper who shot at him during a TV interview last year (FEB06) - because he has been caught in a far scarier crossfire incident. A gunman opened fire on the 64-year-old German filmmaker while he was being interviewed by the BBC in Los Angeles, to promote his movie THE GRIZZLY MAN. Herzog was wounded during the incident, but insisted on continuing the chat with reporter MARK KERMODE while he was bleeding from his thigh. Now, a year after the shooting, Herzog admits he remained calm throughout the shoot-out because it was nothing like the ordeal he faced in Nicaragua. He says, "Once, with an elite unit of insurgents crossing over from Honduras into Nicaragua, we came under fire in the middle of the river. "(That) was unpleasant because we were so visible and the jungle hid the shooters." Of his 2006 attack, the director simply states, "It did not impress me."
