Heather Mills is expected to be awarded a lump sum of around £25 million in her divorce with Sir Paul McCartney.

There may also be an annual payment on top of this for the couple's daughter, Beatrice.

The decision following the five-day hearing was revealed to both legal teams over the weekend, but will not be announced officially until Monday.

Some lawyers had predicted sums as high as £200 million could be awarded in the case.

Although the sum of between £25 and £30 million is the same as the amount offered originally by Sir Paul in the autumn, it is unclear whether Mills won her freedom not to be bound by the confidentiality clause.

The issue of confidentiality proved a stumbling block to a deal last year, and the two took their battle to the High Court.

The judge in the case, Mr Justice Bennett, will now decide how many details, if any, of the proceedings should be revealed to the public.

If the judge does decide to reveal details, they will probably be restricted to an outline of the deal to end speculation of how much the ex-Beatle will pay out of his reputed £825 million fortune to end the acrimonious split.
