Actress ANNE HATHAWAY suffered from depression and anxiety as a teenager, and she's proud to have overcome her troubles. The DEVIL WEARS PRADA is relieved she managed to beat the miserable, self-absorbed period she went through when she was growing up. Recalling her troubled period, she says, "I said to Mom the other day, 'Do you remember that girl? She has now gone, gone to sleep. She has said her piece and she is gone.' But then I thought, 'I so remember her, only she is no longer part of me.' "I am sorry she was hurting for so long. It's all so negatively narcissistic to be so consumed with self."

Perhaps Anne will now accept that she is a big Girl now and no longer a teenager, and has proved that she is a very cleaver and tallented actress, and hopefully refrain from making the type of comment suggesting that she has no confidence in her own abilities, so often reported in the past, like the latest one in which she wonders how long she can go on conning Hollwood before the realise she carn't act. I am sure this was said in jest, and possibly in private, but she should have realised by now the the press will distort anything if they see mileage in it. When Anne burst onto the scene she joined a small group of actresss Julia Roberts Jodie Foster Goldie Horn, etc who right from the start, proved that they had that little extra something, which made them stand out from the crowd. Perhaps now Anne will get the recognition she deserves and has in fact earned.
