HANKS LANDS FILM GALA RECOGNITION
TOM HANKS will be honoured at a ceremony to celebrate talent in the movie industry.
The Film Society of Lincoln Centre will pay tribute to the actor at its annual gala tribute, citing Hanks' talent of making "a good man compelling".
The Big actor will be inducted on 27 April (09) at the society's 36th annual gala following last year's celebration of Mamma Mia! actress Meryl Streep.
Kent Jones, the society's associate director of programming, says: "There are so few actors who have been able to make the struggle and drama of being a good man compelling.
"With his talent, his presence, his versatility, his sense of humour, he has set a very high standard for his fellow actors."
The star has won Best Actor Oscars for Philadelphia in 1993 and 1994's Forrest Gump.
