ELLEN POMPEO - GREY'S ANATOMY CAST NAMED ENTERTAINERS OF THE YEAR

The stars of TV show GREY'S ANATOMY have been honoured as the top entertainers of 2006 by US magazine Entertainment Weekly. The publication praises the hospital drama, which has a cast including ELLEN POMPEO, PATRICK DEMPSEY and ISAIAH WASHINGTON, as a "phenomenon". Entertainment Weekly's LORI MAJEWSKI says, "Grey's isn't just a show, it's a phenomenon. Back in May (06) when last season's final show aired (in the US), every place in New York City was empty. You could get a table at the best restaurants." Elsewhere, video website YouTube, actress MERYL STREEP and SACHA BARON COHEN's spoof Kazakh journalist character BORAT, as featured in the smash movie BORAT: CULTURAL LEARNINGS OF AMERICA FOR MAKE BENEFIT GLORIOUS NATION OF KAZAKHSTAN. Majewski adds, "(Borat) held up a mirror to America."
