GREEN DAY - GREEN DAY GET PLANT HONOUR

A Swiss botanist has named a new tropical plant species after punk trio GREEN DAY. DR. JASON GRANT's MACrocarpaea dies-viridis (Latin for Green Day) discovered the new plant species in Ecuador last year (06) during a field trip with his students. In a posting on the Natural Resources Defense Council website, Grant explains, "We listened to Green Day music while driving, and in the evenings," and this prompted the plant's name.
