HEATH LEDGER - GOVERNMENT TO INVESTIGATE LEDGER'S PRESCRIPTIONS

U.S. federal officials have launched an investigation in a bid to discover how actor HEATH LEDGER was able to get the prescription drugs that caused his death last month (22Jan08). On Wednesday (06Feb08), the New York Medical Examiner ruled the star died from an accidental overdose of six prescription medications, including painkillers, sleeping pills, anti-anxiety pills and antihistamines. A statement from the Medical Examiner reads: "Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine. "We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications." Now officials at America's Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) have teamed up with police to find out how Ledger managed to obtain all his prescription drugs. DEA spokesman Erin Mulvey says, "We are working with the NYPD to identify any illegally prescribed drugs that may have been prescribed to Ledger." Ledger, who was 28 when he died, is expected to be buried at his family's plot in Karrakatta Cemetery in his native Perth, Australia on Saturday (09Feb08), with his ex-fiancee, Michelle Williams, and their two-year-old daughter Matilda in attendance.

It was stated that Heath Ledger got 3 of the prescription in Europe (probably London
where he was filming). For any doctor to prescribe those types of drugs to a foreigner
is beyond my comprehension. He lived in New York, was Australian, yet they just hand
out meds that are so easily abused. Also, there is such a thing as rebound with
these types of meds. He complained of anxiety, that happens after taking xanax,
valium etc., if you take sleeping pills, you end up needing the pills to sleep.
That's probably why he always complained of not sleeping. If it was not for these MD's
he never would have had all these prescription drugs and they were negligent in giving
it to him. In New York, they have been going after doctors that prescribe xanax
too often and there have been a number of busts in Westchester County over the past
few years.
Here here. Duly noted and well said. Nice observation, according to an astute observer.
One hundred percent right. And coming from someone who knows.
