U.S. federal officials have subpoenaed HEATH LEDGER's autopsy records as part of an investigation into how the actor had access to the prescription drugs that caused his death last month (22Jan08). Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) investigators served the New York Medical Examiner's Office with the legal paperwork as part of its standard procedure when a person dies from an accidental overdose, reports People.com. On Wednesday (06Feb08), the city's medical examiner ruled Ledger died from an accidental overdose of six prescription medications, including painkillers, sleeping pills, anti-anxiety pills and antihistamines. DEA spokesman Erin Mulvey said on Thursday (07Feb08), "We are working with the New York Police Department to identify any illegally prescribed drugs that may have been prescribed to Ledger." Ledger, who was 28 when he died, is expected to be buried at his family's plot in Karrakatta Cemetery in his native Perth, Australia on Saturday (09Feb08).
