GIRLS ALOUD STAR REVEALS 'SELFISHNESS' OVER EX'S ADDICTION

Nadine Coyle has admitted she was "selfish" in splitting with actor Jesse Metcalfe as he battled alcohol addiction.

The Girls Aloud singer and Desperate Housewives actor Metcalfe were an item for more than a year but parted as the Northern Irish popstar felt unable to cope with Metcalfe's personal issues due to her busy schedule.

Coyle, 23, steadfastly denied tabloid reports that Metcalfe had been unfaithful to her and has now explained that she regrets neglecting to help her actor boyfriend with his problems.

"He had a horrible time going to rehab and it was all too much for me," she told Now magazine.

"I blocked it out of my life and decided not to be a part of it and that's wrong. That's not something you should do if you love somebody.

"I regretted being so selfish about it and so dismissive of him genuinely having a problem."

However, Coyle, who won her place in Girls Aloud through ITV1's Popstars: The Rivals, insists she does not miss being part of a couple.

"I don't feel the need for another relationship. My life is fulfilled as it is and I have loads of male friends so I'm never stuck for male company," she said.
