CHRISTIAN SLATER - GIRLFRIEND: `CHRISTIAN SLATER WAS BORN BAD'

CHRISTIAN SLATER was born to be a a bad boy, according to the new girlfriend who claims to have tamed him. Jimmy Choo shoe tycoon Tamara Mellon began dating Slater last year (07) when he arrived in London to star in West End show Swimming With Sharks. The actor had only just divorced wife Ryan Haddon, following a number of well-publicised alcohol and drug-fuelled brushes with police. But Mellon is convinced Slater, 38, has changed - and his troubled past makes him a better partner. She says, "He has badness as a part of his genetic make-up, but he is reformed. He doesn't drink, he doesn't do drugs, and he understands the spiritual side of getting through that. "It's wonderful to be with a man who has a past and put it behind him." But Mellon warns there will be no fairytale celebrity wedding: "Christian is fantastic and I can't think of anyone else I'd rather be with, but the idea of marriage terrifies me."
