GEORGE MICHAEL - GEORGE MICHAEL DONATES LENNON PIANO TO VIRGINIA TECH

British pop star GEORGE MICHAEL has made a GBP1.45 million ($2.9 million) donation to the Virginia Tech University massacre victims - in the shape of a piano that once belonged to JOHN LENNON.
Michael bought the piano - on which the former Beatle composed his hit song Imagine - for GBP1.45 million a few years back, and hopes his gift will help to promote peace at the campus, where 33 people died after student Seung-Hui Cho went on a killing spree in April (07).
His spokesman confirmed the delivery of the piano and added, "George's deepest wish is to imagine a world of peace, a world without violence."

Wow! That really was generous. It must have been hard to part with something
as historic as that. Thank you Mr. Michael, I'm sure your gift will mean so
much to that campus. It has touched people who aren't even connected to the
tragedy, I imagine this will have quite an impact in healing some of the
emotional fallout of those left behind: survivors on campus and the victims'
families. That was very thoughtful.
I sure hope the University takes care of the piano, guards and protects it
heavily so some pot-smoking punk doesn't vandalize
it.
