GENESIS - GENESIS STARS PAST + PRESENT AUTHORISE NEW HISTORY BOOK

Reunited rockers GENESIS are set to have the last word about their incredible history in a definitive band autobiography. Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks and former bandmates Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett all agreed to be interviewed for Genesis: Chapter + Verse in an effort to clear up myths about the group's history. The tome, which will hit book stores later this year (07), also features extracts from one of late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun's final interviews. Rutherford tells Billboard.com, "It's a nice book. My wife read it and couldn't put it down. It had an effect on me, too, reading all that stuff you say about each other. "It kind of brought it to the front of your mind how kind of special the way we work is and has been - the way we write, the way we get on so well, the way we've done things. I think it made us appreciate what a great journey it's been and what fun it still is." The book won't be the only gift for fans this year - Genesis is also planning to release a live album and concert DVD featuring a documentary about the group's reunion process. Rutherford adds, "A guy's filmed every breath I've taken since the first meeting in New York last October (06)."
