British funnyman Stephen Fry has broken his arm after falling over while filming a nature documentary in Brazil.

LATEST: British comedian STEPHEN FRY is to undergo further surgery on his broken arm next week (begs25Feb08) after shattering his bone in Brazil last month (Jan08). The Gosford Park star, 50, was on location in the South American country filming BBC documentary Last Chance To See when he slipped on a rock and severely fractured his right arm. He received treatment for the injury in a local hospital in Tefe before being flown to the U.S. to have a metal plate and 10 screws fitted along the broken bone. And Fry's return to the operation room has forced him to put his heavy work schedule on hold while he fully recovers from the accident.

This story is so full of errors it's not really worth reporting. He fell between
a boat and a dock, not on a rock. He's an extraordinarily successful writer, director,
actor and comedian; not merely the latter. The doctors in Miami failed to diagnose
the break correctly, and just sent him home with a cast. It was at a British hospital
that the diagnosis was made and the operation was performed. The misdiagnosis in
Miami could have permanently cost him the use of his right hand.
