FRIENDS CHIEF RECRUITED FOR BBC THREE 'FRANKENSTEIN' COMEDY
BBC Three has commissioned a new comedy from one of the writers and executive producers on American sitcom Friends.
Adam Chase will lead a team of writers on Clone, a "fish out of water" comedy due to air on BBC Three later this year.
In the six-part series, a brilliant scientist likened to Dr Frankenstein creates a super-soldier clone he hopes will replace Britain's human troops.
But according to preview material his creation is "more likely to hug someone than shoot them".
The 'buddy comedy' is the first commission from Roughcut TV, the production company of Ash Atalla, whose previous credits include The Office, the IT Crowd and Man Stroke Woman.
"It's a pleasure for Roughcut TV to be working with someone of Adam's calibre," Atalla said. "This gets us off to a great start and we are very excited to be working with BBC Three."
Danny Cohen, BBC Three controller, added: "I'm thrilled that Adam Chase has come over from Hollywood to work with BBC Three - and it's great to be working with Ash and Roughcut.
"It's also really exciting to be experimenting with the team-writing model on [BBC] Three; an approach we tend to use less frequently in British comedy."
