LATEST: Officials at the Motion Picture Association of America have slapped strict sanctions on upcoming marketing plans for horror movie CAPTIVITY after disturbing billboards erected in New York and Los Angeles prompted parents to complain. People felt the images of the abduction, torture and death of a young woman, portrayed by 24 star ELISHA CUTHBERT, were too graphic and insisted they be ripped down. Producers at After Dark Films insisted the posters went up by mistake, and they agreed to remove every single one. After Dark CEO COURTNEY SOLOMON released a statement to the press, saying, "This was not a malicious act, not a PR stunt. We're truly sorry for anyone we offended." But his apology isn't enough for the MPAA bosses, who now want to vet all advertising the horror film studio plans to release in the near future. This marks the first time the US censors have required a studio to clear locations and venues of ads. The MPAA chiefs have also suspended the ratings process for the ROLAND JOFFE film, which means the movie could be released in May (07) without a rating - something that will restrict the amount of cinemas which book Captivity.
