SALLY FIELD - FIELD TERRIFIED OF DATING SCENE

Oscar-winner SALLY FIELD is terrified of dating again now her youngest child has left home for college - because the men considered to be of an appropriate age are all wrinkly pensioners. The 59-year-old star divorced second husband ALAN GREISMAN in 1993, and was subsequently too busy raising her children to think about her social life. But now her 18-year-old son SAM has left for college, she feels she should seek out romance. The NORMA RAE star appeared on US talk show THE VIEW Wednesday (02AUG06), where she was asked about her current dating status. Field explains, "Am I dating? God, no! It's very odd to me now to be looking and thinking, 'Well maybe now that Sam's growing up, maybe I'll starting dating again.' "A girlfriend and I were out to dinner and she said, 'I've met someone interesting - he's the right age, he's in his 70s.' And I went 'WHAT?' "And then I went, 'You know, it is starting to be the right age!"
