WILL FERRELL - FERRELL SLAMS HOLLYWOOD'S OBSESSION WITH MONEY
Hollywood actor WILL FERRELL has slammed the film industry for branding any movie which makes less than $100 million (GBP52,998 million) a box office failure. The ZOOLANDER funnyman is immensely proud of his comedy ANCHORMAN - but feels his work was under appreciated in Hollywood because the film was not a huge financial success. He says, "We were incredibly happy with Anchorman, but there's this stigma attached to American stories that don't hit the $100 million mark. It's not considered a success. "Anchorman topped out at about $85 million (GBP45 million), which was insane for our budget ($26 million) and the kind of movie it was. "It was definitely a victory, but we have our competitive side which we like: I want to make a still-crazy but slightly more accessible, slightly more conventional movie." Ferrell's new film TALLADEGA NIGHTS: THE BALLAD OF RICKY BOBBY has already taken $150 million (GBP79 million) at the US box office.
