FERGIE'S NEW NAME HELPED HER BEAT DRUGS
THE BLACK EYED PEAS frontwoman FERGIE, born Stacy Ann Ferguson, has thanked her adopted name for giving her a post-addiction identity.
When the Glamorous singer sought help to overcome her addiction years ago to illegal narcotic crystal meth, she adopted the name Fergie, which harks back to her Scottish roots, as inspiration.
Ferguson says, "The name Fergie derives from my Scottish surname and came about when I was recovering from a drug addiction and I felt I needed a new start.
"I feel a strong affiliation with my Scottish ancestry and have incorporated tartan patterns and our family crest into my album cover and video."
