Westwood, California ....
LATEST: Cop-turned-actor DENNIS FARINA has been sentenced to a minimum of one year's probation and a $510 (GBP255) fine after attempting to carry a gun through an U.S. airport earlier this year (08).
The Saving Private Ryan star, 64, was charged with three misdemeanours after he was apprehended at Los Angeles International Airport on 11 May (08) after a loaded gun was found in his briefcase as he attempted to board a plane.
Farina pleaded no contest to the charge of entering an airport with a weapon in court on Thursday (17Jul08).
The two remaining charges - carrying a loaded firearm and carrying a concealed weapon - were dismissed.
Farina was initially charged with carrying a concealed weapon following the discovery of the .22 caliber, semi-automatic pistol. Authorities later discovered the gun was also unregistered.
Just last month (Jun08), it was announced he would escape felony charges.
Farina will be held on informal probation for 12 to 24 months pending good behaviour, reports TMZ.com.
