FAITHFULL SLAMS NATIVE BRITAIN

Actress/singer MARIANNE FAITHFULL has launched a stinging attack on her native Britain, insisting experience with the press "broke" her for life. The star, who currently lives in French capital Paris, has no regrets about deserting England after being ceaselessly hounded by the country's media. She says, "The way I have been treated by the British press over the years has traumatised me for life. "I was so young and they broke me. I'll never be considered in my own country the way that I am in the rest of the world. "The English deny me the respect which I believe I deserve. They refuse to see, understand and accept that I am not the same person I was 40 years ago." Faithfull endured a tumultuous four-year relationship with Sir Mick Jagger and a well-publicised battle with drugs.
