ENO JOINS DOWNLOAD REVOLUTION
BRIAN ENO has spoken out in support of the download revolution, saying it has given the music industry a much-needed shake-up.
The legendary producer recently collaborated with former TALKING HEADS singer David Byrne on the album EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS WILL HAPPEN TODAY.
Officially released on August 18th, the album is available as a download only from everythingthathappens.com.
"The music industry really had a free ride. There was a huge appetite for buying music and they were selling it quite expensively actually, that fostered a generally quite lazy attitude within record companies.
"And then suddenly when challenged by the possibility of a different future, their only response was to try to resist it and to say that it isnt going to happen and well stop it from happening."
He told BBC 6 Music that he now buys his records as downloads as opposed to CDs, saying: "I dont like actually going into record shops much."
An enhanced CD version of EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS WILL HAPPEN TODAY will be made available at a later date.
