DRUGS DID KILL DANIEL SMITH
LATEST: The death of ANNA NICOLE SMITH's 20-year-old son DANIEL was caused by a lethal combination of methadone, Zoloft and Lexapro, according to pathologist CYRIL WECHT. Wecht was hired by Smith to conduct a second autopsy on her son and revealed the results from toxicology tests yesterday (27SEP06). The pathologist told American publication People the drugs caused the cardiac dysrhythmia that led to Daniel's death. Zoloft and Lexapro are both classified as anti-depressants, while methadone is used to treat heroin addiction. The toxicology results were conducted by National Medical Services in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania and released on Wednesday (27SEP06). Daniel died in his mother's hospital room 10 September (06), while visiting her in the Bahamas three days after she gave birth to a baby girl named DANNIELYNNE HOPE. Smith's longtime friend and lawyer HOWARD K STERN revealed on Tuesday (26SEP06) that he is the father of the baby.

What is still missing from the news is why these drugs in combination had this
effect.
Methadone, Zoloft and Lexapro all take the same route for metabolism. All 3
drugs are also designed to block the route. This is what allows them to reach a
steady state.
Between 7 to 15% of the population will have a genetic variation that makes
this route slow to begin with.
Instead of a drug clearing our body in 14 hours it may take 36 hours to clear.
And this is just with one drug being used.
If Daniel were taking any herbs as well, it would have compounded this because
most Chinese Herbs use and block this same route.

Hydrocodone uses the same route to metabolize as the drugs Daniel was taking.
Physicians' need to be more aware or educated on what these drugs are really
doing within our body.
