No sooner had this year's Download Festival concluded than the organisers of the event started looking ahead to next year's headliners.

The site of this year's festival has only just begun to clear, but already attention is switching to next summer's event.

Tickets for next year's festival go on sale this Friday for the same price as this year, giving a few lucky fans the chance to get hold of their wristband nice and early.

Download director Stuart Galbraith is also already thinking about next year's line-up, hinting that Dave Grohl's Foo Fighters may be on the bill.

He told the NME: "We'd have Foo Fighters and Muse because they're cutting edge and I'd have AC/DC because they're absolutely classic and I've wanted them to play here for the last five years."

This year's headliners included My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park and Iron Maiden as well as Marilyn Manson and Motley Crue.

Also playing were Korn, Enter Shikari, Wolfmother, Machine Head and Billy Talent.

Mr Galbraith added: "The weekend has been absolutely fantastic and ran extremely smoothly. There has been a significant reduction in numbers treated for serious medical reasons and there have been no major incidents reported."
