MANDY MOORE - DJ AM'S FAILED SUICIDE ATTEMPT

MANDY MOORE's DJ boyfriend ADAM GOLDSTEIN tried to kill himself after years of drug abuse left him feeling his "life was over". The 34-year-old - also known as DJ AM - suffered as a child at the hands of an abusive father, until he was kicked out of his parents' home at the age of 14. He tells Glamour magazine, "I spent the next two years doing drugs every day, until I went to my mom and actually asked her to send me to rehab." He spent the next four years in a centre he describes as an "abusive house of horrors". Goldstein adds, "When I was 20, I started freebasing cocaine. For the next four years, that's about all I did - with the exception of DJing. At 24, I felt like my life was over." He put a loaded gun in his mouth, "But the gun didn't go off." Since then, life has changed for the star, but he insists he fights a daily battle to stay clean: "It's been nine and a half years since I've had a drink or taken drugs... but I'm still an addict."
