DIRECTOR RADEMAKERS DIES
Dutch filmmaker FONS RADEMAKERS has died of emphysema. He was 86.
Director Rademakers died in a Geneva hospital close to his home across the French border today (22FEB07).
Rademakers' 1986 movie DE AANSLAG (THE ASSAULT), told the story of a young boy killed by Germans during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, winning an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, and also picked up a Golden Globe.
De Aanslag was the first motion picture from the Netherlands to take the Foreign Film Academy Award.
