DIEGO MARADONA TO STAR IN BBC COMEDY
Football legend Diego Maradona will make his British television debut when he features on BBC TV comedy show Only An Excuse.
The former Argentina player, famous for his "hand of God" goal, is one of several characters lampooned by comedian Jonathan Watson in the TV show.
The show is due to be broadcast on BBC One Scotland on New Year's Eve.
Other famous faces to be lampooned by Watson and the rest of the team include Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood, as well as sports reporter Raman Bhardwaj and weatherman Sean Batty - who both feature on STV Scotland Today.
Teh show will form part of the BBC Scotland's Hogmanay line-up.
Jackie Bird and Hardeep Singh Kohli will host Hogmanay Live 2008 from the Great Hall of Edinburgh Castle.
They will be joined by singer Sharleen Spiteri, performing tracks from her new album, and last year's X Factor winner Leon Jackson.
Only An Excuse is being broadcast at 11.20pm on BBC One Scotland, while Hogmanay Hogmanay Live 2008 starts at 11.50pm.
