DEXYS MIDNIGHT RUNNERS - DEXYS GUITARIST GOES BACK TO BASICS

Former DEXYS MIDNIGHT RUNNERS star KEVIN 'AL' ARCHER is giving guitar lessons to kids - because he is desperate for the money. The British musician enjoyed success in 1980 when his song Geno reached the top of the U.K. singles chart, but left the band shortly afterwards following a row with the group's co-founder and frontman, Kevin Rowland. And now Archer is struggling to make ends meet with the $20 (GBP10)-an-hour lessons. He says, "Only 20 people showed any interest and it was costing me more money for the adverts than I was getting back from the lessons. "I know fans of the Dexys might find it strange that I'm teaching guitar. I just hope they remember who I am."
