PATRICK DEMPSEY - DEMPSEY'S LIFE IN THE FAST LANE

GREY'S ANATOMY star PATRICK DEMPSEY is grateful to his wife for encouraging him to realise his dream of racing in Le Mans. The actor is desperate to take part in the annual 24-hour French car race after his wife JILLIAN bought him a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SE for his 40th birthday last year (06). Dempsey, who also owns the Porsche convertible from the movie TOP GUN, tells People.com, "Her influence was profound. Jill just gets me to believe in my dreams - and act upon them. "She was the one to encourage me to go and drive. For a Christmas present about nine years ago she gave me a three-day competition class. Now my goal is to race Le Mans."
