DEL TORO AND SODERBERGH DEFEND REVOLUTIONARY FILM

Actor BENICIO DEL TORO and director STEVEN SODERBERGH have brushed off critics of their new movie GUERRILLA, insisting the film was meant to "p**s off" audiences.
The forthcoming film, which depicts the rise and fall of Argentine revolutionary Ernesto 'Che' Guevara, came under fire in May (08) at the Cannes Film Festival for its four-hour run time and controversial storyline.
But Soderbergh has defended the $60 million (GBP32.4million) project after a series of scathing attacks from film critics.
And he insists its budget will be recouped by Spanish-speaking audiences, with the length of the film trimmed for its U.S. debut.
He tells the New York Daily News, "If you make a movie like this and nobody's p**sed off, you're not doing your job. Che's a very polarising figure. Everybody's got their own idea about him and about what a biographical film ought to be. The more people arguing about it the better."
Del Toro adds: "As my grandmother used to say, 'No one is better than what he can do' - he is who he is."
