Rapper ICE CUBE has vowed to shake-up the hip-hop industry after expressing outrage at its commercialism. The star - real name O'SHEA JACKSON - fears the current US rap scene has forgotten its roots and lost direction. He is so appalled that sex and 'bling' are favoured over social commentary in hip-hop tracks he's heading a campaign to stamp out the corporate rot. The former NWA star says, "All we're hearing from America is booty music. If American rappers don't step up their game, then I will. "I'm planning on releasing three records in two years - each more politically charged. "I'm going my own path to sway the tide. We've got to do whatever we can to put the music back in the hands of the people who love it."

After the ''Barbarshop''series which I never liked he made his money on the Jigaboo tip already.People started rap and People will change rap, sadly Not any commercial rap super stars.you cant bring back the past.and the underground rappers and poets/spoken rap/ female artists are going to be the ones to bring rap around.nothing has changed except that the record industry KNOWS how much power rap has so they keep the booty call music and mentality of the masses poppin an shakin empty heads..but the reality is that the real rappers/wordsmiths are being keept out, supressed and financially crippled by the corperations. The sameM+)(*&*&*&!that tried to keep rap out the mainstream in the first place, are the ones who make the money today look at DJ Drama and how the Corperations are getting desparate.your eather part of the problem or part of the solution.Famous Rappers are part of the problem, they have become the ones who were the ''types''holding them back when they were comming along!.How often do you see a new name in the rap hip hop coalition meetings the same old clicks. because they know that if the let the ''Real''Political people in, for example I have ''Thugs against Violence'' where excons go and read there books and tell them real stories of the street to HS.kids/Colleges and the Help Ive gotten from all the hip hop coalitions and hip hop Summits (no disrespect) have been ZERO So I also started ''Rikers Island Rappers/Poets''we do the same thingI care about the Youth so Ill keep on doing that.but Truse meI put my Rhyme where my revolution.and Rappers are Scared of revolution Carolyn C.
