CRUISE HITS BACK AT PARAMOUNT
LATEST: TOM CRUISE and his business partner PAULA WAGNER have hit back at "offensive" Paramount Pictures, after the studio failed to renew its producing contract with the actor, blaming his controversial off-screen behaviour. The TOP GUN star's company Cruise/Wagner Productions worked with the studio for 14 years, jointly producing blockbusters such as WAR OF THE WORLDS, MINORITY REPORT and the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE movies. On Tuesday (22AUG06), the chairman of Viacom - Paramount's parent company - SUMNER REDSTONE announced the deal was not being renewed. Redstone told the Wall Street Journal, "His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount. "As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal." Cruise received a barrage of negative publicity last year (05) due to his public displays of affection with fiancee KATIE HOLMES, his promotion of his controversial religion Scientology and his verbal bashing of the actress BROOKE SHIELDS for her "misguided" use of prescription drugs to treat her post-partum depression. However, Cruise and Wagner claim they decided to withdraw from Paramount, with Wagner saying, "For some reason, Paramount has chosen to negotiate in the press. "It's not really the most businesslike approach. We've had virtually no dealings with Mr Redstone. "With War of the Worlds and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3, Cruise helped earn nearly $1 billion for Paramount this year alone." Cruise's agent RICK NICITA adds, "What this says about Paramount is self-evident. It was graceless and it was shocking and offensive."

I would like to make a comment to the above "splittcell" commentator. I don't
understand why some people like splittercell hide their true intentions behind
"warmly" and sometimes "sweet" or concerned comments, instead to come straight
forward and say what you have to say.
I call call such chickens covert hostile or suppressive typ of persons. They
often talk good but at the same time pushs the knief so deep into your body
that you don't even get it until your death.
Tom Cruise is still the greatest movie star in the whole world, despite all
the manufactored rumors he gets in his private life, because he is doing great
humanitarian works.
I am also a businessman.
I have been a fan of CRUISE for many years now as a lot of people have been. I
will clarify that a movie fan. I have never thought that he was knock down
gorgeous but I have enjoyed his movies from the time he started as a teen. I
have never paid much attention to the personal lives of actors but have looked
more at the work they do but this thing with Tom has went way past anything I
have ever seen. He should learn to sit back and keep his mouth shut, I am
beginning to think that he is a blubbering idiot. I think his fame has went to
his head, I really for sorry for that little gal he's with now. Bless her
heart she has to live with that daily. I hope her Mom and Dad are keeping a
close eye on her. How did Nichole stay with him so long and she should have
been cheering when he walked out of her life. Redstone made a very sound
business decision when he announced that they would no longer be working with
Tom Cruise. I am a bussiness owner and I would have done the same thing. I
didn't watch his last movie I wouldn't pay money to watch his movie anymore and
doubt that I will buy any on DVD. Cruise needs to just cruise on back home and
hide in shame!
