BILLY CRUDUP - CRUDUP HONOURED FOR GENEROUS FOOD CHARITY DONATIONS

Actor BILLY CRUDUP has been honoured by New York food rescue charity City Harvest. The Almost Famous star has been donating money to the non-profit organisation, which collects food from New York restaurants to give to the homeless, for years. But Crudup admits he was surprised by the recognition at the Metropolitan Pavilion event on Tuesday (23Oct07), because he's been handing over money to City Harvest for so long, he forgot he was doing it. He tells USA Today newspaper, "I moved to New York about 15 years ago and pretty quickly realised that dealing with the hunger issue on a moment-to-moment basis was difficult. "When I started making money as an actor, I started donating. That was the only capacity (writing cheques) that I was involved with. "When they called me about this (honour), I was so moved because I didn't even know that I gave to them."
